Latest edition
Sir,
It is as hilarious as it is depressing to see so many column inches of your newspaper devoted to the utter trivia of the local area, rather than to serious considerations that affect wider society.
The latest edition is a heady brew of tranny anguish and climate-change headbangers, intent on inflicting their own peculiar brands of authoritarian collectivism on wider society.
The Equality Party persist in their mistaken belief that society must be forced to allow men in dresses into women-only spaces. Cllr Wesley claims “Trans people are not asking for special treatment.” This is untrue. Tranny men are requesting the force of UK law to help them enter women’s changing and toilet spaces. Very special treatment indeed. It is quite obvious what many of these men in frocks want: the chance to live out their twisted fantasies or worse. I was shocked that, for once, our UK Supreme Court saw sense and acknowledged the potential harm to women. We can only hope that the people of Congleton realise Cllr Wesley represents a similar potential for harm to women and drop her like a hot potato at the next election.
As for “Climate Change Champion” Sam Corcoran: some individuals never change. Not content with running Cheshire East Council into what the LGA called “a risk of effective bankruptcy,” Corcoran now wants to display his chops (if he has any at all) as some kind of messiah of climate-change disaster. But he is as clueless on this topic as he is on council finances. In 2024, Nature magazine found limited evidence for a warming surge: “In most surface temperature time series, no change in the warming rate beyond the 1970s is detected despite the breaking record temperatures observed in 2023.” The CO2 Coalition, headed by Taiwanese Professor Peng-Sheng Wei, found that the sensitivity of the climate to a rise in CO2 atmospheric levels from 100 to 400 parts per million (ppm) was “negligibly small” at 0.3°C. Other scientists, such as Chen et al. (again, 2024), take the view that increased CO2 has actually accelerated a greening of our planet.
As you can see from the above, the woke virtue-signallers of our constituency cannot base their campaigns on logic. Instead they live in some kind of fantasy world where facts do not matter, so productivity and the rule of law have no consequence. The slide in the UK’s standing and living standards will continue until voters decide to wake up and throw out these individuals and their asinine opinions.
Yours,
Andy Large
