Town Council Elections
Dear Editor,
It is no surprise at all to note that our local MPs (Russell and Naismith) have now declared their Labour leader to be the wrong man for the big job. It took them a lot longer than their constituents! I suppose it’s better late than never.
But Labour mistook a tepid (at best) general election victory as a mandate for Communism in the UK. It is great news that the hard left are being shown the error of their ways this early in the election cycle.
It is now up to our local Reform representatives to clearly and articulately spell out a programme of change for the coming years. As I noted in my letter last week, our nation is in financial peril because of the high national debt levels piled up by Marxists and socialists in all parties (Labour, Conservative, Lib Dem).
For some hard-to-fathom reason, local socialists believe that robbing from the productive in society to hand to the unproductive is a viable and desirable long term incentive structure. But Britain’s recent shambolic GDP per capita performance shows this as folly - our situation is hardly better than 2010 (From Macrotrends.net).
Local Reform candidates Gary Wilson and Dave Mahoney, who are standing in the upcoming elections for Congleton and Alsager Town Council respectively, understand incentive structures. They recognise the imperative for cutting the size and cost of government so that private businesses can flourish and provide cheaper goods and services through the power of free market capitalism.
By slashing wasteful bureaucracy, simplifying taxes, and restoring economic freedom to those who work hard and take risks, Reform offers a genuine alternative to the failed consensus that has left families struggling with high bills, stagnant wages, and declining public services.
Our constituents deserve leaders who champion individual liberty, personal responsibility, and the proven benefits of free enterprise — not Collectivist ideology or ever-expanding tax collection.
The time for more of the same is over. Congleton and Alsager need a bold commitment to freedom and free market principles now. I urge readers to back Gary Wilson and Dave Mahoney and give Reform the mandate to deliver the change our town councils desperately need.
Yours faithfully,
Andy LargeAlsager West
